So I've been working at this really small restaurant but profitable restaurant for a while now. Originally it was just the boss and I. We got along fairly well, but he hired his new young guy a while ago who is an absolute shill for capitalism. He would work extremely hard for next to nothing, he never complains, never takes breaks, just a really subservient kinda guy. (He might not be all there) Over time the boss got greedier and more selfish, knowing that he could take advantage of him. I felt like the boss crossed the line when he started to pull us up for really ordinary pastimes, like tying our shoes, or just not constantly being productive. He actually tried to withdraw some money from our paychecks for “standing around” and “talking too much” The stupid thing was my coworker wasn't even phased by this. I literally had…
Wow I am shocked
Wow at first I thought this sub was joke because of the interview I saw. Seeing that there are more people exactly like the one in that interview is just shocking. How could there be so many of you? It’s excruciatingly painful to read some of the posts here.
Saw a post on here about a guy who had to pay a portion of his wages for not being vaccinated (this person was vaccinated already). In my eyes it is abhorrent to charge someone for coming in to work unvaccinated. It’s just another form of wage theft but a lot of people in this sub are so blinded by the vaccine debate they don’t see this. If they’re allowing you into work without a vaccine they should NOT be taking a cut of your wages !!!
Just started organizing a union at work
I just started organizing a union at work. After 3-6% raises and being lied to everyone is annoyed and I'm gathering support quickly. This is the most driven and happy I've felt in months. Unionize. Most places are a powder keg waiting for a spark. Stop running from jobs. Quitting doesn't hurt them. Let's fucking unionize.
My last job I was there for a year. I worked 3rd shift stocking shelves while I finished my Bachelor's in Management for 14 bucks an hour. When I was hired, I had 1 interview, hired on the spot. Before that, I had 2 years in customer service, where I got lots of awards and did well in. I also worked taking care of disabled people for 5 years and had lots of positive recognition for that. I interviewed at Aldi now twice and about to be a third. First was a phone interview. Let them know about my experience. I need a job, but I'm low key annoyed with this process. My in person interview, dude ran all over the store working while I tried to basically tell him about my previous experience and trying to keep up while wearing uncomfortable dress shoes. He said because it's a fast…
So I’m sitting here with -$16.53 in my bank account, a busted up face and a broken rib. For the past two months I have worked 12-4 and then after that I worked 6-3AM. Did that every single day. My boss didn’t pay me what I was owed, so I threatened him legally. He said let’s talk and completely fucked me up. I know what you’re gonna say “cAlL tHe CoPs” or “sUe HiM” I’m fucking tired of working, I’m tired of this goddamn country, tired of being completely fucked over, tired of worrying about paying my god damn bills. Tired of having to borrow money just to put gas in my tank because I don’t make enough money. Tired of relying on unreliable people, in just fucking tired.
