So I got blindsided today by my (now former) employer when they fired me. They said that a recent (rather scathing) Glassdoor review “sounded like my writing,” and they said it violated their social media policy (even though Glassdoor reviews are anonymous). The bigger kicker is they threatened to sue me for defamation if the review isn't taken down! So on top of now being unemployed, I have to worry about the costs associated with defending myself if they take me to court (I don't expect the lawsuit to actually go anywhere, but I still have to hire a lawyer to represent me). I've been a really good employee for almost 2 years (and I have the performance reviews to prove it). Something tells me they were looking for a reason to get rid of me because it's a legit flimsy reason to terminate. The company has been going down…
Seriously….funny shit
The workplace I just quit- racists. FOH all white, I've only ever seen one POC and I bet she hates herself and wants to be white. BOH, all foreigners. Glass polishers- all thai. Do you have some sick fetish or something? Also, being gay is alright but lesbian is not? (I'm straight but there was a rumor that I was lesbian…as always, simply because I didn't talk or compliment men). They told me they were inclusive and diverse- their restaurant is fully segregated. Also, I didn't even know you were being racist towards me. What a massive projection. That is hilarious. I didn't even know why we were talking about diversity and inclusion. Almost every single girl that works there is in a relationship with a manager or chef, amazing. Yes, that is totally gender inclusive.
This is the 4th or 5th time I've called myself in sick for the 3 years I've worked there, so not an abnormally large number if you ask me, in the past there have been multiple times where I still clocked in while feeling like shit, but this time I just couldn't, energy has been zapping out of my body and it's been a while since I've felt this miserable. Since it was an early shift I tried calling them asap this morning so they can perhaps still find replacement to cover me, the shift starts at 07:00 AM, so I called at 06:35 – 06:50 – and 06:55, 3 times they didn't answer the phone even though I know most people are inside already by the time 06:30 has passed, so after the the 3rd ring I left a voice message saying I couldn't come in today cause…
Hey Reddit, we are a group of University students, who could really use your help! We are about to try and develop a new calender system. The idea is to combine all differrent aspects of planning, like budget, training and work. If your interest is to get financially well of, this calender will help you with a guide on how to do so. Also the calender will in the long-term be fully integrated with your digital calendar. So whenever you fill out the physical one, it will automaticly register on your phone, tablet or pc. Is this something you guys would be interested in? Have you ever heard of anything like this before? Any tips and tricks? What do you do atm, for your planning? It would be greatly appreciated to have some feedback from you guys, thanks!!
Anthem of the antiwork movement
Liars and Cheaters.
I applied for a customer service position (voice) but given my past experience (marketing and training), I was told that it would be better if I applied for a trainer or voice coach position instead, cuz I had a Versant score of 76. So, over the weekend I prepared a couple of presentations as I was asked to and went to HR who told me all that. First, they kept me waiting for 4 hours stating that the Process Director is in a meeting and in the evening when I had pestered them enough for an update, they handed me the appointment letter for the Agent's position, stating that since I do not have relevant experience, I wouldn't be considered for this role. Fine, I said, but when we met the Process director, he said that it wasn't a Voice role, it was a chat role, and that there would…
Proper answer to weekend work
Key administrative position in our team was deemed a needed cut to reduce company overheads. Our team was told it was a temporary decision in anticipation of projected losses because of covid and we were expected to absorb the duties of this position despite our still excessive workload. Company is in record profits just FYi. My career progression plan was put on hold indefinitely and I only found out about this after asking repeatedly get non answers. As my current position was deemed vital for company growth (recruiter). I love my team but it feel like I'm the only one ever speaking up so I out right quit. I voiced my objection with evidence of unreasonable workload and if this happens can they can start having discussions of TOIL, overtime terms, KPI adjustments etc and I shared info about these things with my team. As this wasn't brought up in…
Can you do any overtime this week?
“What about Wednesday? No? Thursday? No? Tonight? Well, if you change your mind, just come in.” I work overnights, filling shelves in a supermarket. The work is heavy and fast paced. The 1st day off each week is spent in bed recovering, the 2nd is spent feeling crappy because of disrupted sleep and the 3rd (when I have a 3rd) is spent dreading going back to work tomorrow. No, I do not want your overtime, I want my body to stop aching.
