I worked as a shift manager at a fast food place. One day, the best worker in the store asks me if it’s weird that she hasn’t gotten a raise yet. I gawked because she’s worked there over a year and should have had 2 already. (First after 3 months & second one after 1 year… they were 25 cent raises lol) The manager at that store was notoriously sexist and also horrible at his job. I found out soon after that every dude at the store got their raises at the scheduled time and none of the women did. Talk to your coworkers about your salary, esp. if you’re a woman!

Not sure exactly where this belongs, but isn't this illegal at some level? It's definitely immoral, especially as she works in a RESTAURANT, but I'm not sure if there's any recourse.

here's a fun little experiment to try with your friends and family . simply ask them “what's the job description of a landlord” . usually they'll either have no idea what to say because , it's not a real job . because , let's be real . they have more in common with tape worms than the actual working class , living paycheck to paycheck . another response tends to be something like “owning land” . which , yeah ? so do a lot of other people , and they're not getting paid for it . they just rely on other people's income , and use it for their own benefit . i'm honestly curious if anyone has done this , and to share the responses people have given to that question . because most if not all people i've asked have only given those two responses . it's honestly…

Another post on here triggered memory about a question that I have had for awhile. What's the best way to leave a tip to ensure the person who provided the service to you personally gets the money? I normally don't carry cash so typically I add it to the bill. In this other post they mentioned half sharing and what not and I imagine some owners may charge a fee to process the credit card. So is cash the better policy? Thanks.

Long story short, I applied for a promotion and was not picked between the 5 candidates. The person who was, is now telling people I applied. Is this illegal? She will be my boss in the next few weeks if not already.

as a full time worker, im really tired of the passive aggressiveness that comes from my managers, the feeling of worthlessness when making mistakes, feeling like a robot who has to reach a certain goal every day, etc. im tired of feeling depressed and craving a drink every time i get off just to forget about all this bullshit. im tired of living like this and i dont really know how to make my situation better. i cant just find a different job, i got lucky as hell to find a job after a gruesome 4 months of unemployment. im tired of being in so much emotional pain both when im on the clock AND during my free time due to work stress and ruminating over mistakes. im wondering if anyone has any advice to shake off these feelings and/or if theres any sort of community outside of reddit that…

I recently started working at a local scrap metal recycling yard and apparently new hire on board processes is to send new applicats through a temp agency for a 90 day probation period, this company claims to be a union of boiler makers and pipefitter (not sure if this is common practice for scrap metal yards everywhere) I've reached the end of the 90 day probation period and I'm not so sure if I want to leave the temp agency that be said I really enjoy the work I'm doing as well as I feel treated fairly. I'm just more or less feeling like I already filled out paperwork and took a drug test and don't really feel like doing it again mostly because if you do it right the first time won't have to do it again
