First time in my life I felt valued workwise

I've been working in retail on minimum wage most of my life, never had a pay increase, worked most weekends on similar rate. Etc. Never felt properly valued. Yesterday I finally got a remote part time job and they asked what I expected hourly. I went for a 35% increase from my current job, nervous they would decline it. They said “I'm happy to pay you that, but I think you're far more valuable, so hopefully that can be much more in the future”. So don't forget, you are valuable, don't let your shitty minimum wage job make you think anything else!

About Legal Questions

I am a lawyer. I see people asking legal questions all the time. The law is complicated and can be confusing even for practitioners. If you have some legal question please put your Country or State (if US). No legal question can even begin to be answered without some basic jurisdictional information. Thank you.

Resigned and my employer reposted my position at a higher pay rate.

I just accepted a job offer for a position that pays quite a bit more than my current job. I am also in school and the new position is in the field that I’m studying. I really like my current job, though, so it was tough to put in my notice. I really like my coworkers and my boss, and I was very touched when my supervisor told me how hard it was going to be to replace me. I still have a week left before I leave, and they just reposted my position. I make $28,500. Job postings where I work include the pay rate, and the new posting has a range from $28,500 to $42,500. There wasn’t a range on the pay rate when I applied, and even though I had actually worked in this position for my employer a few years prior, I wasn’t offered a higher…

I came to know a lot of folks don’t get Annual pay raise

I recently came to know a lot of people don't get annual pay raise. This is wage theft. Everyone deserves a pay raise that at the very least matches with inflation. If I was not getting one, I would immediately start looking for a new job. I know a lot of companies do at the very least 2% to 4% raise every year on base pay.

At what point do companies decide that a customer becomes a god and an employee not even a person who is worth having a secure life?

Isn’t everyone a person? When you are not an employee but a customer then forgive the employees for being human.

I lied about my life to get the position I wanted

About 2 years ago, I started working a tech support position that pays $24/hr. Prior to that, my work experience was in fast food, which went on for a bit too long (I was a cook). The only way I got my foot in the door for an interview with said company was by completely bullshitting my resume by listing similar positions on it (the position required a minimum of 2 yrs of experience in similar tech support positions). Talking about them in the interview was brutal, but I had backstories planned and managed to squeak by. A few months into my employment with the company, they found out my resume was bullshit and my boss confronted me (I never asked how they found out). They didn't even try to contact my former employers before I started. I know because the 'companies' were just made up and I provided my…
