I'm not really sure what to do anymore. Like many of you I'm struggling to get by. Each month my bills get paid but I see my savings and checking slowly dwindle. I'm currently working on cutting out some bills where I can but it doesn't seem to help. Costs are going up and when I ask my employer about a raise they said that they are normally capped at 2.5% which is quite frankly insulting. Luckily my administrator is aware of this. I keep seeing posts and messages in the media about how workers have such an advantage in the job market and it is the best time to look for a new job, however when I look it is almost impossible to find anything in the 20 to $25 range. I am a college-educated individual living in the fourth biggest city in my state. All of the jobs…
Stupid Question
Hi everyone ️ im new to Reddit and i just didn't know where else to ask my stupid question. I work through a temp to hire agency PEOPLE READY in U.S Detroit Michigan and the company im currently working through WORICK is a very small building with maybe 6 employees (and yes 1/6 im the only black guy) . Funny thing is when i applied i was told the hours were 7am to 3 . So my second day there the guy ,im assuming the supervisor, told me that it's actually mandatory 6 am to 3 everyday……i mean one extra hour not really complaining but starting wondering legally HERE IN MICHIGAN they can't legally make you work more than 48 hours. Is this a lawsuit waiting to happen?, or are they trying to shake off the only black guy to see if i quit? or neh im overthinking it
All this for 14.75 an hour? GTFOH
I’m 22 years old, a full time college student, and I got my first part time job as a cashier a month ago. While I did not know how to use a cash register, I learned how to use (most) of it after three days. I enjoyed my job for the first three weeks, however, I started dreading going to it recently. Not only do I have to manage a full time course load (15 credits this semester), I have to show up on weekdays from 6:45-11 pm and on Sunday from 5-11 pm. While I don’t mind working evenings, I think working until 11 pm is unreasonable because it does not give me enough time to focus on my schoolwork. I only get one fifteen minute break during my shift and for the rest of my shift, I have to stand in a small space for 4-6 hours, which…
I like the idea of anti work because fuck big corporations but there are too many absolute babies on this one. “My boss didn’t buy me a 72 inch flatscreen even thought relaxing at home is essential for me to be productive when I’m in the office >:(“ Anyway. Any similar active subs where people are more realistic and don’t act like toddlers throwing a temper tantrum? Thank you!
It's sickening to see workers finally making progress on wages and then gas companies decide to gouge us for their profits. We're seeing literal war profiteering, and those in power will likely do nothing since their campaigns are full of oil/gas money. So that means it's up to the people to take action. To start with, I propose a boycott of gas stations from one of the big 4 in the US (Exxon, Shell, BP, or Chevron). Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that gas stations are typically franchises and the owner/operator sets the price. But we all see every gas station is essentially the same price, give or take maybe 5 cents. Why? Because they know most of us need the product and have to pay it – and if they all toe the line and keep the price high, they'll all reap the profits together.…
So as we all already moved into 2022 and appraisal cycle is almost close too I just want to share my story. Apparantly my work has satisfactory, sucessful and exceptional rating during annual rating. Guess what I've worked around 10-11hrs shift for last 2yrs when my shift is of 9.5hr including 1hr break. During annual review my supervisor said you're rated as successful only cause your work is monotonous and you're really good at it and don't seek interest in learning other stuff about work. Plus you don't interact much with leaders too. (Note : This is customer based company and its nothing like they're teaching data science or shit, it's just learning about other services provided by them to their customer which obviously wouldn't add any value to my resume in future. I was willing to learn MIS and Excel stuff but they're too afraid of it cause then…
