This is my first year with a small family owned company and I had my 11 month review today and it didn’t go very well. The company has a small sales staff of about 6 people and currently there is a lot of stress being put on the sales staff for a number of reasons. Being short staffed is a company problem but particularly a problem for the sales staff. I am constantly dragged away to help my coworkers clients and it’s not so much a lot of time per client but so many clients that I have to stop what I’m doing and help and then I don’t get what I need to get done. During my meeting today it was strongly alluded that my job was in danger because my sales were below the quota I’m asked to hit. My quota is also the same as several other…
Was told to post this here
I (24M) was fired today. I am a student, but also work part time for the government and a shoe store. Today I called in sick from my government job because I was nauseous and throwing up all morning. By the afternoon, I felt well enough to leave the house and I went to the shoe store to pick up my paycheck. My tuition was due today and I needed money. While I was at the store (a matter of minutes) my boss from the government job comes in. (Not to buy shoes, obviously). He said “what are you doing here if you're sick?” I told him I was only getting my paycheck so I could have some money in my pocket for food, gas, etc. Without hesitation, he asked for my work keys, credit cards, etc. He said “this ain't gonna fly. You're done”. He went out of his…
employee dragging Walmart
Basically I’m working on a department with one other guy rotating shifts. Work involves three tasks, preparing the material, manufacturing(most time consuming)and then packing .We are getting very busy and they decided we should get third shift, night shift . But to avoid strain to us of doing nights they come up with an idea the third guy that is trained on another shift will only be trained and involved in preparing and packing along with one of us on the same shift leaving most important task to us. Today I learned only because of my deputy team leader’s mistake that the other guy is actually being trained on manufacturing area. Everyone around kept this in secret to my and even been told to tell me in case I ask that he is not trained on manufacturing. I’m not sure what to think about this and how should I approach this situation. Turns…
Attendance is rewarded with “points” that will go towards an insurance premium discount, but to get the discount you have to earn a certain number of points by attending these seminars outside of work hours. I pay nearly $400/month for my prescription medications. That’s my out-of-pocket expense AFTER insurance. What a slap in the face.
Aspiring owner of a food franchise
As you can tell about the title. I'm currently getting experience required to be able to get a food franchise. The reason why I post this is because one thing that I've always hated about the retail/food industry is the low low pay. Personally I want provide the most possible for my future employees. That being said. I want everyone to post suggestions on how to bring up the standards for employees inside these industries. I never want my employees to feel strapped for money or worry about getting hurt cause no insurance. If anyone has already done this and would have no problem coaching me or just having a conversation that would be wonderful!
Girlfriends new job is skimping with pay
My gf started a new job about a month ago and has been grinding, working 12 days in a row and over 50 hours this week. I brought up that the OT pay will be nice and was flabbergasted when she told me she doesn’t get OT, they made her sign a contract when she was hired that stipulates she will only be paid OT if she exceeds 88 hours in a 2 weeks time frame.. I get that this part is kind of her fault for signing and just thinking its normal (still scummy by her employer though as they have her working 12 hours days so only do this because they KNOW she will be hitting OT most weeks). However they also told her she would have paid 30 min lunches since she is the only one at the store rn and can’t have someone cover for her,…
