As a business owner, I have a bit of insight into how the wealthy become wealthy. it isn't all hard work and sacrifice, nor is it all putting a specific value on one's time, nor is it all exploitation or devaluation of others' time. Step 1. Make an LLC, with a bank account for the LLC. Step 2. Pay yourself with a Trust that owns the LLC. The federal government requires a “Reasonable” Salary to be paid to yourself, anything beyond that is considered a non-taxable dividend. The government/IRS has a definition of what is reasonable salary, this usually maxes out at $80,000, but can be as much as $120,000 in some states. Step 3. Mathnasium Owner is Not Paying Me
I'm an instructor for a Mathnasium Branch in Ontario, Canada. I started working at the begining of Dec 2021. During the first meeting with the owner, he told me that he will hire me under this provincial program which is giving grants to small businesses if the new hirees work a certain number of hours per week within a timeframe which ends around feb/mar. I told him that I will be available for 2-3 shifts a week which comes out to 8-12 hours. He said because there isn't enough time for me to work the required hours for him to get the grant, he will record my hours as 15 hrs/week and consequently pay me more than I work until I finish the program, then pay me less than I work and by around April it will all even out. First of all , im on my cell and my spelling sucks. So sorry for that but onward to the story. The year was 2003 and I (17m) was in high school. I always worked construction with/for my father but wanted to try a more “normal” job.I lived at home and honestly didnt need to work since I made more than enough doing construction for my spending habits as a high schooler.
