I work for an events arena in lower management, the company also owns our local ski lodge on the mountain. This season I’ve been driving my 2002 Toyota Camry with bald tires up and down the mountain in horrible conditions and risking my life 40-45 hours out of the week all in the name of survival, I’m very young (20) and on my own with my girlfriend so I feel trapped making 13 an hour, and cooking chicken strips for people who are rude and have way more money and time to do shit like ski and buy 7 dollar beers yesterday my car just couldn’t make it, so I met this girl who looked to be about 18 I’d say and a older man who also works for us. she started driving and almost slipped off the road, it was a close ass call In my opinion so we…
At least there's a law firm dedicated to suing IBM for age discrimination. It's their full-time job

He can’t be serious
I work in a union manufacturing facility. This week, my line has been running like absolute dog shit. Maintenance has been working on it basically around the clock as we continue to run and scrap material that doesn't meet spec. Today, the line is pretty much back on track and whay does management decide to do? Order us to jack up the speed to make up for lost production. Problem being that these lines notoriously run like shit when you speed them up beyond a certain point so I am still looking product due to being out of spec or other quality related issues. My supervisor comes out fuming, yelling about still losing product, asking why, so on. I try to explain what's happening and he cuts me off threatening me with a write up if I don't start sending product. Luckily, we have this nice little form that effectively…
Hello people of Antiwork, I recently got a job as a support worker, looking after those with learning disorders, and they recently tried to schedule me (on my second week after training no less) a 90 hour week with 4 sleep ins, when we agreed in my interview that I'd only be doing 1 per week. All added up it's 88.5 hours, which is an insane amount of time to be spending away from home, of which they only gonna pay me for 52.5 hours of it, since they don't pay for sleep ins. I live in the UK btw. https://i.imgur.com/xhcgaZy.png https://i.imgur.com/Lzlu5fo.png
You don’t deserve ANYTHING in life
People always say life is a gift and it is but then they also spend the better part of 80+ years lording it over you because you have to pay back what you owe because the world expects its gift 10x/100x/1000x over in return. Meanwhile go screw yourself if you think it'd guarantee food/shelter.
Pretty straightforward I guess
Questions for people living in Japan
A big debate in this sub is housing not being affordable. But in Japan, it seems very common that young people often live alone in their own apartment. Whereas in the US that would be very difficult with just 1 source of income and no roommate. So my questions are: What is minimum wage in Japan? Do jobs offer benefits and 401k like in the US? How often do companies provide raises? What is a normal work week like? 9-5 mon-fri? This is just my guess, but I’m assuming a decent about of money is saved by not owning a car and taking public transportation instead? I had heard that some companies will pay for your daily commute to work 🙂 If you’re not familiar with the price to own a car in the US, you have to pay about $250-300 a month depending on the type of car you…
