That way people can put like 1 penny down of collateral, rack up a shit ton of medical debt, then declare bankruptcy to really game the system. Sure your credit might take a hit but at least you didn't get financially ruined. If the rich can game the system so should we.
I don’t even know what to do.
I can’t afford health insurance, I’m renting a house, not because I particularly want to, but because I’m not allowed to be trans in my mother’s home. It was between dreadful life or a bankrupt one. I chose the latter. Now my wrist is fucked up, and I can’t afford health insurance. Even the plan offered by my job is over 80$ a month. I’m barely scraping by as it is. I can’t pay the doctors to check it out and it’s getting worse each day. My range of motion severely decreased today. Who can I turn to? Am I totally fucked or is there some organization out there that helps people in this situation, or some loophole I can use for treatment? At this point I’m choosing between the pain and going hungry. I never expected reality to hit me like this.
When your best job won’t work
So I just picked up an application for a local grocery store and they want 3 job references I've known for 1 year or longer. My only job to last that long is self employment and my best reference is a business friend, and it's a loose reference at that. I'm flipped like a burger ain't I?
So I started at a new branch yesterday and when I entered the building I just got some weird vibes. Idk if it's because I'm new and it's just nerves or is it because i may be the only poc there, I haven't met everyone yet. Idk I hope I like it there
Why are we calling for free tuition?
Hear me out… Let's put aside the fact that UG tuition fees is just a massive debt trap. It's the pathway to a spiral that people are usually stuck in for most of their lives. But, why are we calling for free tuition/state-sponsored tuition? Capitalism has changed the reasons people go to Universities. Through centuries of brain washing, we're taught that a university degree is a gateway to a good career, and being “successful”. Doesn't free tuition simply add to that narrative that an education is the means of getting a career? Doesn't free tuition simply shift the burden of payment from the individual to the state, while the reasons and benefits of both are in favour of capitalism? What's the solution? Well, when the first European University was set up in Bologna during the 11th century, only 3 subjects were taught. A university education was seen as a mark…
Leaving my job soon!
I don’t normally post here but I’m just excited! So the company I work for is notorious for miscommunication and terrible management. I’ve put up with it for almost two years and I’m done. Miscommunication happens in every part of the store and management. Due to miscommunication, I have been screamed at by several customers for things that are not my fault. Management prefers to protect the customers over my well-being. And I’m done. I had a customer yell at me because I had no idea she had an order to pick up (because no one tells me anything). I kept telling her “it’s not my station I do not know about your order or where it is but the person on that station will be back soon.” More yelling. I finally had enough and just left. Oh! And my department head was right there and could’ve helped me out…
At a place that has their own doctors on sight that you must go to before going to your own doctor?
That one mod whose name started with a K who had only recently joined the mod team is who I'm referring to. I'm writing an article about this subreddit for my school's paper and I want to pull a couple of quotes regarding how it was originally a more philosophical subreddit from their statement. Thanks!
