It's written into my contract that although I am not legally obligated to, as a courtesy I would give two weeks' notice before leaving my job. I got laid off yesterday, and my medical coverage ended today. Thankfully, I had some foresight and purchased supplemental insurance before open enrollment ended a few months ago. I have a chronic condition, and can't do without insurance. I have been wanting to leave my job for some time, but always buffered every interview, and every new job outreach with the courtesy of 2 weeks because my start-up would be fucked without my work. Turns out–they're fine and I lose my salary and insurance the very next day
So I was recently diagnosed with Chronic Respiratory Failure with Hypoxia due to a severe case of pneumonia brought on by COVID, Fibromyalgia and have to use supplemental oxygen as well as am in pain all the time and constantly fatigued. I had to start a GoFundMe because my family is struggling financially to take care of me and so far I have hardly made any money. I was messaged by someone saying that, “I have fibromyalgia and I can work. So can you”. I said, “Do you have to use oxygen as well? Because clearly my GoFundMe states I have chronic respiratory failure with hypoxia and it's so bad I almost died a month ago when my lungs decided to just fail on me and I ended up almost dead because my lung were full of fluid. But Ok. To make matters even worse, my own mother makes comments…

My company has retracted WFH options recently, and my commute this morning was 11.9 miles in 51:22. I think I'll bill that hour. I also think I won't be getting much done today besides looking for a different job.
Back in July 2022, my husband tested positive for Covid on a Sunday. I immediately texted my boss that day and said he was sick and I was exposed. I asked what the protocol was (she refused to tell me when I started). She told me to stay home that week and continue to test. I tested and was getting very sick (this was my first bout with Covid so I had no clue what I was in for). On Wednesday I was dying. Tested positive on at-home test. And I drove to the local pharmacy for a legit PCR test (I shouldn’t have drove. I was in bad shape). I got the results Friday morning. Positive. I texted my boss. She said “what are you going to do?” I told her what the Dept of Health told me. My 5 days would be up Monday but preferably to stay…
