When we recieve time and a half, it reads as just extra hours on our payslip. Can they do this? I have complained and said it isn’t clear enough on the payslip.

My very last 2 weeks at work

My contract as a cashier ends in 2 weeks and I won't renew it. Two weeks left of being a slave. And hopefully I'll never have to work for anyone ever again. I'm going on a trip to Asia for 2 months in February. After that I'll have ALL THE TIME in the world to travel and to really focus on my business and hopefully become financially independent by the end of the year. For the meantime, I've qualified for unemployment benefits for a whole year (France is generous…) & I live at my parents, so I won't have to work in 2023 and hopefully never again if my business kicks in. Life is finally looking good.

Coworker wanted to reduce her schedule by one day, was denied, transferred and ended up quitting

Hello r/antiwork, here with my first story of a floral wholesaler that I work for. This place isn’t the worst job I’ve ever had, and honestly it’s my favorite job I’ve had; but a lot of it is due to my specific department being ran by a someone who’s actually competent. Anyway, the coworker mentioned in the title worked in the sales department. The sales department is so integral to the running of this place that any huge decisions and asks are ran through the general manager of the wholesaler (who is the brother of one of the owners, a married couple) instead of going through the department head of the sales team, who herself is admittedly a problem but I digress. This GM is an absolute joke, he doesn’t do anything, is completely out of touch with how this place even works, and will take months to make simple…

My mom got into a car accident today and the immediate thing I did was alert my job if I potentially might have to call out (mind you this is 6 hours before my shift). My manager yells at me for being one of three closers in the store who might not be there

Why yes, she is okay. Thank you, manager. But I’m severely thinking leaving this place

Almost 2 and a half years ago, EDD confirmed I was terminated without cause. They even interviewed me and my company. Now, they are asking that I complete questions of what happened 2.5 years ago or else I will be required to pay back my unemployment. This happen to anyone else?

I just heard the most heartbreaking news on the phone.

I’m a doctor in an ICU in another country (let’s say). Family called for an update. Give the update and family member says thanks for being there, we can’t leave our jobs to come or we would be fired. “They’d really do that to you?” Yes, my boss just told me to get off of the phone. They know why I called…. It’s so infuriating, and so sad. I wish I could tell the boss. I’ll remember that you don’t want family around if you or someone you love gets sick. I’ll remember you don’t want phone calls. I’ll make sure the doctors I went to medical school with know. I’ll tell all my nurse friends. I’ll tell my friends at the pediatric hospital. I’ll tell my friends at the nursing home in your town. Next time your little hospital sends me a patient I’ll make sure to bring up…

Lol what’s the point of retirement?

Is it really worth living all the way to retirement? Everyone around me is 70-75 working 60-70 hours a week with no intentions of being able to retire. What’s the point of saving my money into a 401k my whole life if I’m just gonna be working till I’m dead? Why not just enjoy life and die at like 50-60? All this stigma and brainwashing to live your life a certain way, controlling every little aspect of your life every step of the way, just to maybe get hit by a bus one day? Like yeah thanks I worked 60 hours a week for 50 years just to have time off to suck my wifes 80 yearold crusty toes. No thanks fuuuuck that shit and this society

Ignorance is Bliss

I just read a similar post but I hate to seem like I’m one upping the OP. I’m on mobile so please forgive formatting issues I retired from the Army during an economic slow down. I was glad to find a job with a company that provided training to the Army that was pretty interesting. I basically played Arma II all day. When I was hired I just asked for my salary while I was in the Army. I figured with my new retirement check I would be living fat. The team I worked on was filled with smart folks who were military doctrine writers. The only problem for them was that 80% of what we did was really just nerd gamer stuff. After about a year my gamer buddy and I were the clear rockstars of the team. One summer day my family went over to his house for…
