trying to find a job is so exhausting
i’m a college student and i’m not taking THAT many credit hours this semester. my schedule is pretty flexible just not mornings m-th and trying to find a job is killing me i have about 6 past jobs, the experience, and i’m a decent person with a clean record. i had three interviews last week and these bottom of the barrel places are so damn picky and rejected me. i’m angry. i need to pay for gas and tuition and i’m stressed tf out because no one will hire me. i’m sick of fighting for my life for minimum wage and horrible treatment from managers “no one wants to work anymore!” i WANT to and HAVE to. but even the shittiest restaurants won’t hire me. i got laid off after christmas cause “hours are cut” and i was the newest hire or some bullshit and now i’m out of work…
So my work implemented a point system…
Work's Point System I work at a fast food occupation and recently we had a meeting requiring all crew members. At this meeting they told us about a point system they were adding. In this system, you start out with zero points and can gain a point from taking other people shifts. Sounds fine until you realize that as long as you have contacted five people before you call out, you receive no punishment, but rather the five people who fail to respond/refuse to take your shift on their free time do. Instead of encouraging individuals to not call out, it seems to rather incentivize it as they will receive no punishment but rather their coworkers will. Am I crazy or does this seem extremely flawed and can be easily exploited?
Just venting about my job. The company I work for has recently been making changes to operations to increase revenue. One of these changes is to move several positions, including mine, to a new department with a new director, which will also increase our workload. Of course, none of us will be getting a raise for taking on this extra work. But the person who will be supervising our new director is getting a raise. I guess signing off on extra paperwork is a lot harder than I thought.
Why is this not illegal
I am in Texas but my employer is in Virginia. What are my rights?
