So there’re saying my background check was not approved today then guy ask me if I have any credit issues I never knew that they check for your credit on a background check then I haven’t been arrested in 15 years this is crazy . This is very frustrating to me, after being fired for “inappropriate language” from my last job! Total BS! I just can't catch a break.

Hey everyone! I work a retail job that I HATE. I'd been planning on quitting, but they have been teasing a lot of holiday bonuses and gifts. I absolutely cannot stand my coworkers and management, but god dammit, I have put up with this shit for so long, I want my holiday gifts! I only need to be on the payroll for 2 or 3 more weeks, and am hoping someone has a clever idea on how to have an “emergency/situation” that requires me to not work for a few weeks, so I can get my gifts, and then peace the fuck out. So, my friend works for a clinical research group. He applied for FMLA and received written approval for a month’s absence and also got approval from his direct supervisor (all written. We have the request form with the signature of both my friend and his supervisor). HR is supposed to respond within 10 days (as noted on the back of the approval request). HR then called up his doctors and strongholded them into reducing his month to 2 weeks. HR also didn’t deny the request until over a month after the approval request was signed by him and the supervisor. HR denied the FMLA for a month and approved 2 weeks. My friend is unable to go to work as he isn’t even in the state right now. HR’s denial didn’t come through until after the date the FMLA was supposed to start and so he already left the state.…

Not sure if this fits, but does anyone else thats WFH/office have any other good tips for protecting your personal OOO time? I block book my out of hours time (weekday 17:30 – 09:00 + weekends) in outlook to deter people booking meetings ofter hours. (Multiregional companies do accidentally get it wrong… sometimes. Sometimes they dont care.) I also block book my lunch hour as busy/personal. (I will move this, but as long as I get one). 30 mins before the end of the day is booked out as tentative, and i reject meetings during these times, as we all know how those end of day calls can go over time. I schedule out of hours in Teams, so there's no expectation I'm still there even if my icon does go green. Work phone goes onto silent about 9pm Anyone do anything else they want to share?

I work full-time as a paid intern for a United Nations agency, and I currently have 40$ on my bank account. Most of my groceries come from local food banks, as my salary monthly stipend only covers my rent and about two weeks of groceries. I tried to “make-do”, as most of my peers have. I got a second and a third job during the weekend, I stopped eating meat, I started eating more rice, potatoes, popcorn for dinner. I stopped going out almost altogether, save for free events or when my friends offered to pay. Also, because I didn't really have any free time. I was always working.
