Basically every post I see describing the horror show that is US society is filled to the brim with bootlickers and whitewashers and many many comments doing everything in their power to obscure what life in the US is like, why is that? Is it because the subreddit just is more about complaining about work than changing anything? Is it a concerted effort against a decently sized pro-labor subreddit? I see plenty of posts, especially ones with many comments, brimming with US chauvinists and bullshit artists trying to pull the wool over people's eyes with the old “Well what about Japan!?” “Well what about literal warzones??” “Well what about the neocolonies???” tropes It's actually funny, because whenever you try rationalizing or justifying America's horrible work culture by pointing out Japan's slightly worse work culture literally all you're doing is pushing us closer to it. Whenever you try rationalizing America's worsening…
I’ve been working for a company for about just under a year, and I’ve been desperate to leave since I started. The lack of communication, borderline sexual harassment and lack of professionalism from my new manager, illegal working hours, being underpaid and humiliated by said manager in front of other staff are just a few things off the top of my head to lay the groundwork for what this company is like. I have been offered a new job role, and the only person who could give a reference at my current job was a higher manager as my manager had left, due to the issues above. My new manager is awful and I wouldn’t put it past them to lie. After initially agreeing to “support me in my job search”, I have messaged and emailed the higher manager on three different platforms over the last two weeks and they…
I 22 F have started engaging in the female domination lifestyle in early 2022. Through being an online dominatrix, I have made sufficient money. It pays better than any fresh grad job I’ve been offered. I make approximately, on average, ~$2300 a month and I don’t spend too much time on it. It just feels like I’m chatting up with men. I don’t do any nudity and I don’t show my face either. I genuinely enjoy it. Recently, I’ve been let go from a TA position I was offered as they were over staffed. I was happy. I hated that job and when they let me go, I felt as if they did me a favor. I now have decided to focus on being an online dominatrix full time for now or until I figure out what I want to do in future. But everyday that passes by, I feel…
Got “spoken to”
Have a coworker in a different department that has been difficult since she started. She has sent me emails as if I work for her. I’m literally doing her work on a project because and I quote “you know what you’re doing.” For months I’ve reminded her she has a very simple report due. She claims she is so busy. Well lo and behold the other company sent an email threatening to no longer pay us as her report is 3 months late. I sent her an email and basically told her hey submit your report and here’s an idea for tracking when these reports are due. I cc’d my boss and her boss. My boss called me to tell me I needed to be nicer to her and call and apologize. Next time she’s late and the other company has to threaten us again, I’m not notifying her. She…
I’m not anti work even. I love work. But nowadays debt is crazy and just so not worth it but everyone demands you have one. Its just the wealthy controlling us all again. College should be fucking free. Guarantee you Trump and Biden both paid like $10000 tops. My mom paid 30000$ for four years at UD in 1993. Imagine what biden paid fuck college
Can a Company withhold Commission?
I'll be to the point: I used to work for a car dealership. I was told we would have draw and commission, the draw to help if we don't sell enough, and a commission on 25% Gross on the backend of the car sale. Now I left this company September 15th based on the fact that I couldn't trust the numbers they told me was right, I thought I was having my commission stolen from me. So I had gotten my check for half of my draw. I made $300 less commission than the draw. I came in today to ask about my last half of my check plus the following month. I was told since I didn't clear draw I wouldn't get paid the other half. Then I was told they haven't figured out how much I made on my other cars from that month yet and would get…
I hardly do anything
Apologies for formatting, on mobile. So I hardly do anything at my job. I work from home 2 days a week and in the office for 3. The man I work under is an older man who likes to do everything himself and then moan about how busy he is, we share an inbox so half the time when I try to do anything we will double up on the emails etc. So I've given up, I'll only do what he tells me to do, so half the time I'm doing absolutely nothing. It's ok at home as I can do housework and watch TV etc, but in the office it's so damn boring! I'm going to try stick it out a bit longer as I know in a sense I am quite lucky but honestly it is draining
I was truly amazed by this.
I applied to a software developer “apprenticeship” at a local start-up. They emailed me a multi-hour initial coding challenge as a first-round interview. The apprenticeship lasts 3 months with potential for full time employment. I don’t want to leave my current job to be potentially unemployed after 3 months, so I asked for an estimate on how many apprentices are offered full time employment after their contract completes. They do not have estimates they can share “at this time”. It seems to me that an apprenticeship is created specially to train / acquire workers. They must have statistics on the number of people offered jobs after? Is it a red flag that they refuse to share? Should I do this challenge all night knowing that I have work 8am tomorrow? I have less than 48 hours now to complete this challenge.
i’ve job hopped, now i cant get a job?
im unemployed, i keep being questioned about it on the few interviews i get. i went from supervisor, to manager, production manager to GM. 5 years as supervisor $8.50-$14hr 6 months as manager $40k – $47k 3 months as production manager $51k 2 months as GM $85k are previous work places bad mouthing me? my industry is filled with boomers and many(if not all) spend several years in their positions. wtf is going on? im at the point where i could work wherever as long as the pay is at least 15$
