For example I remember being 19 and applying for a server job at a Country Buffet located inside a Flying J’s truck stop. When I applied, the manager at the time handed me paper work to go to a local clinic to get a HAIR TEST. I laughed , said kiss my ass , threw the paper work in the trash on my way out. Another example was retail. Puma store that opened up at a local outlet mall. I was part of the team that actually helped get that store ready for opening. It was open for less than 2 years before closing its doors. Piss test before getting hired. These are two stupid fucking jobs where lives are not at risk but making sure the underpaid employee isn’t on drugs is a must huh. Anyone have any other stupid fucking examples?

Most of us want to work from home and would rather not commute. But if my job in the northeast US is fully remote then eventually the company would be able to replace me with someone in a lower cost of living area in the US or even abroad. A lot of companies have a presence in India and some in the Philippines. I’m sure they’re paid a lot less than US counterparts. So while I’d love to be a remote worker, I’d rather have more job security knowing my job isn’t going to be moved to a different location. Anyone have this experience personally?

Not sure if this is the right place to share this. This isn't something I usually post on reddit lol. My hours have been shortened less and less since I announced at my job I'm pregnant. 2 days of work in 3 weeks.. now we are at this point. I'm almost 3rd trimester. I'm so confused, what do I do? Has this happened to anyone else? I'm a hard worker and have always done my best. So to be dumped to the side like this has crushed my self esteem so hard. No warning. No answer as to why. Just being ignored.. and thrown away.

Pretty much the title. I work maintenance at a hotel for the last 2 years or so. They used the excuse that I'm not able to keep up with the amount of work there is even though I've been doing just fine for the last 2 years (coworkers and long term tenants both agree that I do a perfectly good job). I was building a wheelchair ramp for a new tenant and worked on it for all of 2 days before they decided I wasn't competent enough because it wasnt done yet. I told them it can either get done right or it can get done quickly but you cant have both. This originated (by me) as a reply to a post of someone in a similar situation. i hope you enjoy. A couple decades back my company (~160 people) had a mandatory retreat in state, but 600 miles away. There was a mix of salaried and hourly staff required to go, I was hourly. I emailed my supervisor and HR some pointed question leading up to the weekend. Was going a condition of employment? Yes. Could I take my own transportation? No. We came to our regular work with our bags packed Friday 8AM (regular start time), would return about 10-11PM that Sunday, company was taking us to airport, then shuttle to retreat location, same for return trip. I like to give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they’re sooo busy it’s the only time they have, but it’s pretty disrespectful. Im hungry. I’m about to start hiding hot dogs in my sleeves.

Anyone else just get emotionally and physically burnt out at your job? Honestly on paper this job is great, good hours, the pat is good, the benefits are decent. My boss is a nice enough person and has helped me through some shit on a personal level. But I just dread coming to work these days. I don't want to do anything that im supposed to do. I feel some anxiety when I wake up and know I need to go to work. I feel like I shouldn't be feeling this way because as I said the job isn't terrible. Like I recently had a 3 day weekend (my first since like January or February) but the whole time I just worried about going back to work. It was so hard to relax and enjoy being off. I find my energy for hobbies I have is lacking. I love movies…
