Working at place that is desperately understaffed. Thought I would help out and make some money, win-win, right? They scheduled me full time, although I only wanted part time hours. After 8 weeks, I'm burned out because I'm also going to school full time. I'm skipping classes to work at this minimum wage job. So I tried to be proactive, and tell my managers that I couldn't work as late, I needed more time off for school, and I needed to get home earlier than 11 as I have class at 8 or 9. Waited the two weeks, but it didn't matter. Now, what am I supposed to do? If I put my 2 weeks it, it'll look like I'm flexing. If I wait another week, maybe the schedule will change, but I'll still be working 36 hours a week. If I request a leave of absence, again flexing and…

Yesterday Me: your cabinet door sample just came in. Boss: bring it back to my desk. Me: (sets box down by his desk.) Here you go. Boss: (with snarky grin) let's unbox it, shall we? I was interviewing for two separate companies: Company A which had me go on a series of 8 interviews ranging from the HR recruiter all the way up to the President. I knew I had this job in the bag- nonetheless they continued the process, and flew me out to their HQ to see what I would be signing up for. This was during the time when flights were getting cancelled because they couldn’t find staff to support them, so my visit got postponed a week. In that week time I had a interview with company B. A quick 10 minute phone screen from the recruiter followed by a interview with the VP. I work at a fast-casual Mexican restaurant chain (not that one) and I would truly rather stick forks in my eyes than come back for another shift. I get paid $15/hour to do the work of 3 people and get yelled at about fucking queso. The boss is the only one here making over $16/hour and he doesn't come in half the time, he just pops in every morning, complains about all the work he does, and fucks off. He gets paid full days for that. My coworkers have casually been homophobic and transphobic around me. I'm trans. I don't love that. The very implication of labor rights is enough to get ostracized. Everyone here is furious about the low pay and the heating/cooling that doesn't work and all our broken equipment, but if you even joke about doing shit about it you get looked at like you grew another…

I've been looking for work through indeed, and so often I'll get emails from employers asking me to fill out the exact same f***ing information on their trash buggy site. All I can think is that they must be selling it. If they get it from indeed there's probably a legal issue, but once you give it “voluntarily” then they can do with it what they want
