Okay so I'm on an desktop computer running latest Windows with updates, latest Chrome browser with updates (but I also tried testing it on latest Firefox, Edge, Opera) and even though I have paid for Netflix “4k” (coming out at more than $20 USD a month) nothing is true 4k at all! It is very compressed and I would say not even real 1440p (2k) quality, much less 4k!
And no its not my machine/computer, I have Intel Core i9-9900k with RTX3080 GPU and 64GB of RAM/memory. I can play almost all new PC games on ultra settings at 4k with and have a 4k monitor etc…
Its not my home internet speed either, speedtest I get consistent down of more than 200Mbps, which while isn't the fastest in the world, is still enough for me to play Google Stadia game streaming directly in the Chrome browser for AAA title games in the cloud with no lag nor other issues…
Also, on YouTube I can look up videos in 4k and then watch them in real 4k and can immediately compare and contrast that to the “netflix 4k movies” etc and its like night and day. Even the free YouTube on my exact same setup of exact same home computer, home internet connection, browser, etc yields very sharp true 4k quality of video streaming whilsts on Netflix no matter what shows I tried (even the ones that are new, produced by Netflix, and advertised as '4k') never yield anywhere near real 4k quality at all and are leaps and bounds much more inferior compared to any random 4k video on the free YouTube platform…
So what exactly are we paying for when paying this premium experience for “4k” on netflix?!?!
