Hypothetically, in New York, if an employee puts in a 2 week notice, are they entitled to a payout for any left over paid sick leave or vacation time?
I work for a small employer who doesn't inform any of us how much paid time off we have accrued, theyre kind of hush hush about those things. We get a week paid vacation, but by NYS state law we also accrue 1hr of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked.
My friend who's quitting wants to know if he's entitled to a payout for any leftover paid sick leave, or vacation time he did not use.
