Sooo you guys might remember my post from a couple months ago, I was the GM who got fired from Papa Johns after 13 years for closing the store down 3 hours early to tend to my sick/elderly father. Well, I have been waiting on my unemployment benefits for about 12 weeks now, while also looking for a new job, but today I got news from the UI office that Papa Johns is challenging my benefits because I “knew that I would be terminated upon closing the store early.” They even went as far as to claim that I wasn't dealing with any medical issue nor was I helping anybody, I merely had dinner reservations with my brother. I DON'T EVEN HAVE A BROTHER! It blows my mind that they completely lied on the UI form and now my benefits may be blocked. I'd have to get my lawyer to make an appeal which could take another couple weeks that I simply do not have! Just wanted to vent about this, I'm really down bad here and really hope I can find a job or get my unemployment benefits soon or else I'm homeless! 12+ weeks with 0 income is insane. Anybody else deal with false UI claims from an employer?
