Part time job wanted all my availability

I worked a remote part-time temporary contract job as a program assistant between undergrad and graduate school where the hours ranged from 5-20 each week. When they hired me they said it was okay to have other part time jobs since the PA hours were flexible and the work could be done whenever. So I got another part-time job working as a teaching aid part time, and when my PA supervisor checked my time sheets and saw that there were certain hours of the day I didn’t clock time, figured out I was working another job, and got upset that I wasn’t always available to answer emails immediately or whatever. Told me they hadn’t given me permission to get an actual other job and just thought I should temp teach (which would still mean I couldn’t answer/work PA all the time, except now it would be random??), despite the fact that I was only getting paid for 5 hours some weeks and they knew I was sole provider while my husband was in school. I finished a large project for them and then quit, making up some bs reason. Stayed as a teaching aid through the end of the year with consistent pay and hours, scraping by with savings. At the time I felt like I had done something bad and sneaky or against the rules (there were no rules and I had never signed any compete contracts), but now I look back and realize they wanted my full availability but to only pay me when they chose to use that availability. Essentially they wanted a full time worker but only paid 5-20 hours per week. They really didn’t care about me at all and thought they could pressure me out of needing money to live.
