I think it's pretty suspicious, so we're planning to find a lawyer to consult with and see if there is a case here, but what do you guys think?
For some context, what I know is as follows:
My partner (a case worker at a nonprofit) has consistently received glowing reviews from clients and other staff except the supervisor. Apparently half the staff really don't like this dude. He's been sus (imo) for a long time now. He was being real weird and controlling and sorta singling out my partner. Some such actions include things like, just recently, disclosure of personal information from them to another coworker without permission (while rolling his eyes), telling them off about making sure their appointments are in their calendar when they already were (but he hadn't bothered to check first), and asking of them to, on days when they work at the sister location, email him every time when they arrive and leave (nobody else who has those shifts was made to do this), as well as literally watching them throughout the day, to the point where coworkers were noticing and confirming.
According to my partner, he was creating a hostile work environment that made it difficult to meet work standards, so from my perspective, they (supervisor's boss and HR) chose to terminate them instead of trying to fix the problem. Their excuse was that the position was “not a good fit for them” and they offered 2w pay for severance, but it is, of course, conditional on them not seeking litigation.
