Pay amount changing after accepting role.

I work in a school and recently I was asked to help out with Cadet sessions after school as the only member of staff willing to go outdoors and do overnight trips etc (starting to see why) On taking on the role I asked what I should do about pay. The school said to put in any extra hours outside of my usual hours as overtime at my standard rate. Usually this is 2hrs a week after school however I have been away short notice on some overnights and recently a week long camp. So far they argued and I then agreed that whilst I was sleeping, I wouldn’t get paid (I’m getting fed and watered and as long as no students disturb me, I think that’s fair). They’re now saying that I will get 50£ on top of my normal 8hr wage regardless of hours. This week was ~0600-~2200…

I’m here thinking “AITA for pushing for full pay this time at least since they didn’t get it clear?” To me that’s 10hrs extra work and a week away from home (not always strenuous, mostly just supervising) for 4.5hrs extra pay.

I have an email I sent 2 weeks ago asking for this to be confirmed but I had no response. How should I proceed?

Edit: reading contract and it had no clause for overtime. My job description comes closest and only says (A DT Technician -Support Staff) says “Special Arrangements – The post holder may be required to work outside of normal academy hours on occasion, with due notice”
