Small startup company (only 8 people). GM informed us yesterday that CEO told him our paychecks would be late this week…maybe Wed. or Thurs. of next week instead of today. Several of us talked about not showing up today but chickened out and clocked in. Each of us left early before the shift was over and we don't plan to show up again until CEO pays our wages. Bitching and moaning hasn't helped in the past (Yes, this has happened before… as recently as a month/two paydays ago, but only a day late then) so maybe he will figure out the problem when the facility is empty for a few days, but I seriously doubt it. During Covid he had one guy willing to come in every day to keep us going but had the nerve to not pay him for 3 months (this guy had a green card and couldn't NOT work, so he put up with it). CEO is family wealthy, not American, has no idea how real people live in the real world and apparently doesn't care about his employees but expects us to work for free. I'm not sure what's going to happen but we shouldn't put up with it or let him get away with it.
