People actually want to work

Most people are happy to work. Most people want to contribute to society and take pride in their work. Accomplishing small tasks, like making a sales call that helps someone, working on an electrical panel, moving furniture, making burgers, whatever kind of work, people like it. They just want ownership. They want to take pride in it and reap the fruits of their labor. They want to be paid. We want to be paid. We want money to be able to support ourselves. At the same time we want to do things that add benefit to the world. See, deep down, I think we all care about each other to some degree. That said, the work and employment scene in America is so awful right now. This sub is ripe with true stories of abuse, wage theft, and terrible work.

I believe in the importance of family, friends, and loved ones. I believe on leaning on each other, because let’s be real: employers do not care about you.

They do not want to pay you, support you, or do anything for you. It’s stupid. Employers should care about their people. In fact, a business owner’s first and primary responsibility is to take care of its employees. A business should serve the interests of its workers and paying customers.

And when employees are taken care of, they will do good work. They will show up on time, and do work. And often the work they do benefits others. Electricians, doctors, burger flippers, teachers (goodness teachers are so important!), janitors, a retail worker who organizes clothes, guys who move furniture, sales guys, everyone is important!

This Reddit sub lists all the problems with modern American work, and I’m so grateful for it. I’ve suffered from so many asshole managers – managers who want you to stand all day, who lose their minds when you ask for a day off, who don’t want to pay you, who enable lying, cheating and stealing. It’s awful. And we are all going through it.

So thank you. Thank you to all the people who share their stories on this sub Reddit. It’s so important. Let’s keep raging, rioting, and fighting so the next generation can inherit a far better world!
