People just take free stuff!

Overheard a rant at work today. I work in an office environment that recently started providing free snacks and drinks to the employees. Nothing like the free food at Google, but enough to be appreciated. The office administrator, who is in charge of restocking, was ranting to anyone who would listen about how bad it was to give free and drinks to employees because…..(get ready to be shocked) they're just going to take it and not buy their own stuff. This individual was of the baby boomer generation and was known to rant against providing tea and coffee to employees (which was prior to offering drinks and snacks) because once again, people would use it. Now, I'll be the first to admit that some people exploit the free stuff (picture drinking 4 red bulls during work hours, then taking one for the drive home), but most people will only occasionally…

This individual was of the baby boomer generation and was known to rant against providing tea and coffee to employees (which was prior to offering drinks and snacks) because once again, people would use it.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that some people exploit the free stuff (picture drinking 4 red bulls during work hours, then taking one for the drive home), but most people will only occasionally partake in the free stuff and will usually bring their own snacks.

I just feel that this attitude reflects the older generations attitude towards workers, but maybe I'm wrong. 🤔
