People should get paid for providing references.

Just a thought I had today.. maybe it's been discussed before… but I think that every time a company asks me to be reference for a potential employee, that the company needs to pay me for my time and effort for providing that reference. If I need to take time out of my day to rate someone by having the company ask me lots of questions, I should get paid.
