I requested Friday off, and the store had to close early because the person covering for me didn’t bother to make pizza dough for the busiest day of the week.
On Saturday morning I woke up to a text from the owner that said “please let me know directly when you need a day off, [manager who makes more money than me] cannot be trusted to make dough.”
When I got in the restaurant Saturday morning everything was trashed, no dishes done and everything dirty. The very same manager who didn’t bother to prep also didn’t bother to clean anything before leaving. (He makes the schedule. He scheduled himself open to close.) I told the owner, and he left me on read.
I am so necessary that when I needed one day off the restaurant had to close early. I make $15 an hour and live in poverty, which they know, but they can’t function one day without me.
I put out a bunch of applications today. Let’s see how long it takes to answer my messages when I hit him with a notice
