hello r/antiwork I am posting this for a friend as they do not have enough karma, this is their story;
I have been partnered with and opening up fringe coffee with two other partners and (owner)
Unfortunately, this has all gone south. as we were going into signing our contracts to secure our shares, the other partners, owner and his wife decided that they did not want to give us the shares we worked for for 6 months
fringe coffee also has refused to pay us for any work that was done before the grand opening. They owed myself personally 15k, and Rice was doing all of their accounting, financials, and IT for next to nothing.
They also said that they were going to refuse to pay me for my overtime for the two weeks I worked every day from 12-13 hours a day. additionally, the lawyer they got ahead of time to cheat us out of any money or shares told them that if they didn't I could take action against them
When I told them it was wrong not to pay us for the 6 months that I was unemployed and helping them start a coffee shop from the ground up, Owner Laughed in my face, and the owner's wife was sobbing from what I assumed was guilt.
on top of screwing me and Rice. They also screwed two employees who were waiting for 3 months to work. firing them without cause immediately after they managed to get rid of me
in addition to this, they also told me if I came forward with my story or left bad reviews, they would sue me
Even though they were able to fool me and take advantage of me, they will not silence me. I know that if I tell the truth then they can't sue me and I can stand in front of Allah one day and know that I did the job they brought me on to do right and I did my part. In the end, they were the deceivers and the cheats and I did right by my word and my part in the business
I am not going to tell people to leave them bad reviews or anything like that, I'm sure the coffee quality will go down significantly now that I am no longer there. however, i do ask that if you believe in justice and that businesses should not be able to treat people this way, to not support them and spread the word
at the end of the day. these people had every intention of making two 23 years old's work for them for months on end with no intention of compensating them, for 6 months of work, I walked away with less than 3k when I had saved up 10k to survive on while I worked for them to start a business I believed I was getting 30% of
These are bad people, Owner and his wife are very greedy and evil people. I am heartbroken. humiliated, and betrayed by people I trusted.
