Please don’t ask women to strike right now.

I know why you want to ask. I want to strike. But don't forget how inordinately expensive it is to be a woman. We are responsible for contraceptives, regular medical checks like paps, period care, and more. Even the day to day stuff like women need more toilet paper, have to pay for makeup (which is a dress code requirement at some jobs), and bras which don't last very long or fit very well. Now we should probably start saving for emergency health care since more and more of that looks like to won't be covered for women. It's impossible to lose that much money from work. I know it is not the best look to base these decisions on money but right now we are all hurting. Women cannot afford to strike for things that won't result in fast and direct positive impact for our daily lives. Please hold…

Please hold protests outside of work hours. Please protect women who protest from discrimination at work or in other contexts. Please forgive those who just can't participate right now…we might want to but it is too much of a sacrifice. And unfortunately unlikely to result in much real or immediate change.
