Just frustrated this weekend. I interviewed with a well known big tech company that has an office in my city. The job was posted in my city, no mention of relocation.
At the start, I confirm everything, recruiter tells me total compensation will be around 200k and will be based in my city on the initial screener call.
About 1.5 months later, I finish all interviews and last week I received the offer. They raise the comp a bit to 230k and tell me I would be required to relocate to California. The company had an office in my city but they want the team to be in one office. Why did I waste my time…
