Long story short, my boss has been dangling a promotion in my face for about 6 months now. I was told the promotion would happen in January, but they pushed it to March so it would be “on cycle.” Come to find out that it’s being pushed again to May so that it’s, “on cycle.” When I confronted my boss about it, they told me that I should bear some responsibility for my inaccurate expectation because they’re new to the company and I apparently should know when promotions and raises occur according to the corporate schedule. Keep in mind that the last one I received was an off cycle promotion in 2020. My most recent pay bump was in early 2021 to the tune of 3% lol. Meanwhile my boss has, of course, been shoving projects down my throat that meet the future job description. And when I confronted them about that, they told me that it’s the way things go and that the only reason I have leverage is because of the Covid economy. And they scoffed at the extra workload because “you don’t have that much on your plate and this is a learning experience.”
They’re right though, I have leverage, and they don’t. I don’t need this job. I’ll find another. They want to keep costs low and they think I’m stupid or strapped for cash enough to stick around. I know they’re going to try and fuck me on the salary increase. But they’re not going to fuck me, I’m going to fuck them. This sub has inspired me to switch companies, get a higher salary, and leave the old company to bleed.
Funny how it’s always the people who make more than you who tell you that money isn’t everything.
