I work for a deli chain and apparently spoilage has been super high recently. It’s literally so easy to see why, half the people who work here over-portion (which I personally don’t care about like go for it) or straight up don’t write down large quantities of food they drop on the ground. Management has decided that the solution to this is to no longer let us make our own break food?? Sure people overserve themselves occasionally but the amount wasted there is nothing compared to the other reasons I mentioned. The main reason we serve ourselves is for efficiency like I’m not gonna put an order in and wait for my coworker to make it when we’re already short staffed and behind, that cuts a ton of time out of my break. Now we’re stuck waiting like half our break time to get our food or we’re stuck bringing our own. This bs makes absolutely no sense and is just pissing off the employees we have left.
