I had two jobs.
I worked full time at a retail store as a shift lead (Pet Supplies Plus) I hated it, I found a second job (flight school) and went to part time for the retail one.
We got a new manager at the pet store maybe a few months into this of me working reduced hours as shift lead. I work with her once and she takes me to the back to have a talk to get to know me. She knows I was a previous store manager at a similar retail store that closed down due to covid. She asks me questions about issues I thought were a problem and I answer honestly. She also tells me it seems I don’t want to work because I’ve taken all of my PTO at once (80hrs) but it’s only because the previous manager never put it in, and you have to use it by end of year. I tell her I also only want 1-2 days a week. Later on in the shift, she takes my store key and pretty much demotes me. I actually don’t mind, I’d rather be a team member.
But she hasn’t put me back on the schedule since Dec 20. I’m still an employee, and my PTO hours reset to 80 hrs January 2022. I tried to take some time since she won’t give me hours, and she denied them. The employee handbook says the manager can deny whenever. But I just want to know her angle and what I can do? She’s like 60 years old. /rant
