I was at my local punk cafe this morning and browsing the fliers, and I saw someone(s) had made one advertising a day in August for exactly what the title says. (valley fair is an amusement park near the twin cities)
Im not sure how silly this will sound, but that amazed me as a form of collective direct action. I mean, it's geared towards a very specific crowd, age range and access wise, so of course it's exclusionary and insufficient on its own, but can you (if you're an abled exploited shift worker in the US) imagine taking a day off for some pure fun, sticking it to the boss day of, and spending the whole time with other punks talking about how to spread the joy? I mean, to me, that seems like a more realistic and approachable first step than just saying “general strike now”
Curious what others think
