Put in my 2 weeks after 9+yrs. Asked if my company pays out unused PTO.

“PTO is accrued each month so you earn 1/12th of your 200 hour allotment each month. Upon exit if an employee uses more PTO days than they have earned, the excess amount is considered an advance of wages and is deducted from the last paycheck. You will have earned (3/12)*200 = 50 hours of PTO and have used 71 hours PTO. This means that the overuse of 21 hours will be deducted from your final check.” So it's accrued monthly, but not actually since you can use it all whenever you want. It's only considered monthly when you leave in order to benefit us. I know this isn't uncommon, it's just painfully anti-employee and stupid.
