So short version is, I moved a 1000 miles across the country for a supposedly great career opportunity. That was in October of 2021. By day 3 there are some big red flags, and I noticed things that were blatantly misrepresented/lied about. Not given the resources to do my job, paycheck was not deposited on payday, etc. So today I finally got an offer for a better role and immediately drafted a resignation letter. Shocked my Boss and his like second sentence was like “This is not ideal”. I wanted to be like F you I guess I won’t be nice and give my two weeks, but I wanted to be polite and held my tongue, plus that two weeks is easy money. They won’t fire me, because I then wouldn’t have to payback the measly relocation allowance.
What I’m struggling with now is my boss asked me not to tell the team I manage (13 scientists) so “we” can craft an appropriate message and I was like fine. Now tonight after a few celebratory beers, I’m like F’ that. Going to set up a impromptu team update and let them know. It’s my life and leadership am I right. Just wanted to vent too. But everyone deserves to be treated with respect.
