Put my two weeks notice in today – was told to just go home today with resignation effective immediately.

I’ve worked at this place for 10 months now. It pays well but is only part time. I’ve been offered a new position with a different company making slightly less per hour, but more hours, benefits, better schedule, etc. My new employer said that they were big on giving your company a notice before you leave for a new job, and I agreed. So that’s what I did. My manager understood and seemed to take it well. Then about 20 minutes later, as I’m working, he calls me in to the office. He has HIS boss on the phone, puts it on speakerphone… he informs me that instead of my two week resignation it is effective immediately. I was escorted out, and that was that. So much for being courteous? There’s 2 weeks of no pay. I’m still waiting on the background check and all that stuff for my new…

I have been sent an official offer in writing that I signed. I still have yet to inform my new employer of this – I’m about to do it now. I’m just surprised they did that and still processing it.
