I’m a food service manager of a casual restaurant. Been working here for almost a decade now and I’m over the expectations of corporate without the labor or staff to complete it.
They are cutting our labor when this is the first time we’ve been staffed in over a year. We pay minimum wage when other retail or food places near us are paying more so it’s a no brained why we aren’t hiring or retaining staff.
We don’t get enough admin time to which cuts into floor time so that we get everything done and if we just don’t do it because we don’t have time we get reprimanded. I have asked our area manager to look into paying more since we’ve been consistently understaffed so long and it’s been a big argument.
I definitely think our staff should be compensated higher not only to be able to afford bills but because their are so many tasks to complete and it can be stressful that the pay is just a slap in the face.
I want to quit but unfortunately I’m stuck here for the time being as I can’t afford to quit due to my expenses. I’m just another burnt out employee who is over the senior manager driving a car that costs more than I make in a year and who only got his job because of nepotism. Needed a quick rant so thanks for listening.
