So I (19m) just walked out of my job after 2 years of employment.
I was working at a bike shop as a mechanic, and finally decided to leave because of the following reasons, and more:
-
I had always been disrespected by my first manager there who was an alcoholic and would harass me at work. Halfway through my time there the old management was fired and replaced, however I encrypted having issues with me new people as well
-
The first major issue with the new managers was that this January, they tried to fire me and ended up putting me on probation because of some issues that came up between me and my new manager, I’ll call him Mark.
-
After I was out on probation I needed to save money so I tied the line for 3 months while saving money. However during this time my relationship with my manager got even worse as he was very controlling and passive aggressive. Thankfully about a month ago he was replaced due to him not being able to handle his job responsibilities, but we still didn’t get along.
-
The final straw for me was on this Monday. I came into work and was told that the managers wanted to talk to me. I started working on a bike and while I was doing this I got into a verbal argument with Mark because he tried to get me to apologize for an incident that happened the week before, which was something that he was responsible for. I refused to apologize, left and went to meet with the managers
-
During this meeting with the managers, I was told that because of some issues happening around the shop that I was not directly responsible for, I was going to be put on probation again and they were going to have me basically work as a janitor for the time being, even though there was no issues with my work as a mechanic.
As they were telling me all this I was honestly just not having it and I quit on the spot because I didn’t want to be disrespected like that and also didn’t want to work with Mark who was being very passive aggressive and rude to me.
I did have some regrets initially but quickly got over it when I realized that I can just take some time off and then get another job without all that BS.
Anyways, that’s my rant… Just wanted to share this to hopefully inspire other people to do the same, since this is probably the happiest I’ve been in a long time
