I worked at a dealership as a lube tech (guy who's does your oil changes and tire rotations) making $12 an hour. I went there to build a career with the intentions of moving up. However the quicklane I worked in had such a high turnover rate I knew it would take forever to move up due to needing people in my position, on top of that my boss would constantly threaten us over any mistake we made with paying to replace a customer's vehicle. I fully understand that I could make a mistake that could destroy an engine in my position but I touch $100k+ cars and to put that on the shoulders of someone who makes $12 an hour is ridiculous. And he constantly told us “if you can't do this or that then get out I don't need you” well I finally had enough and after clocking out that evening I decided to just quit showing up, fortunately a friend has a friend who's a trucking owner operator and im now working on getting my CDL.
