Hello antiwork friends, I’m currently writing this from my bullseye themed employers back room.
Thursday I called my boss to put in a request for August 8-12th off to be out of town. They told me I would have to submit a request on the time clock (which is only at work) but that they should be able to honor it. I usually never work on weekdays but I work two this week (and I am already having to cancel a vacation because I’m supposed to be weekends only) so I figured it’d be a good idea just to update my availability for that specific week.
Fast forward to today, as soon as I clock in, I get written up for submitting an unapproved time out request. A boss in a higher position told me she’s never seen someone ask for so much time off in such a short notice. Short notice? Sure. But I only work on weekends anyways? So I was only putting in a “time off” request to update my availability for that week. I wasn’t even scheduled for a shift.
I didn’t even have time to request the time out is the thing, I literally arrived at work to be written up for it. Im guessing I got written up for just talking to my boss?
I then ask them if I’m going to be still weekends only because I’m a college student and the semester starts on the 22nd They then tell me “No. You can’t change your work availability so drastically and it’s too short of notice”. I’ve been here for 4 months. I can count on one hand the weekdays I’ve worked.
So, I’ve had it! The title is the question, do I leave after today, riding into the sunset? Or do I leave after Tuesday, which is my last shift of the week?
