I just got off a meeting with my managers, and I spent the entire video call sending my resume out.
I had to have major reconstructive surgery (double mastectomy) and I currently WFH. My upper manager is after me about when I’ll be returning to office, meanwhile she openly admitted to infecting 6 other managers with “stomach flu” after also admitting the entire office doesn’t have enough desks to hold everyone and they were put together in a conference room.
As required by law, I had to use my entire years worth of sick time before my STD leave kicked in. She said in very clear terms that any sick days taken after your balance runs out is grounds for write-ups and termination.
I don’t understand how a company can see someone have surgery, and then allow them NO leeway if there’s complications or other illness (like, oh idk, another wave of COVID?)
They’re making everyone come back to a building with too many people, not enough desks, monitors, or space to distance.
I also live 45 minutes away and have worked from home for over a year and a half.
If I can’t be trusted to WFH permanently at this point it’s time to find something closer.
I’d be using my entire pay increase on transportation costs, so it’s just another slap in the face.
All I wanted was time to heal, I’ve only been back for three weeks and it’s been a huge emotional toll seeing how little people care.
