Quitting current job without two weeks notice

So I’m quitting my current job without two weeks notice. I feel bad for doing so, as it puts pressure on everyone else to cover my shifts. I’m an assistant manager at a clothing retail store. We have 3 assistant managers (including me), and our store manager. One of the managers is out on vacation, and with me leaving, that leaves our store manager and another assistant to pick up the slack. We have someone in the wings who’s going to be taking the assistant position, when the manager on vacation demotes, so they’ll have to find a replacement for me.

On one hand I feel bad since I like my store manager, but on the other I don’t because they lowball their managers with less starting pay than is normal. Plus one of my managers is flaky, hard to work with, and has been trouble since they’ve been hired.

I don’t think I should feel bad, but between busting my ass for them, never calling off, and getting lower than market pay, they can fuck themselves into oblivion.

Edit: is it also possible that my current manager would call my new job and tell them not to hire me? I don’t think they would do that, but it’s a concern.
