Quitting Monday

I’ve been working at this construction company for 5 year. First 3 years I worked on a project (in the office) at a low position that was salaried but paid pretty low. The entire time I was begging for a financial analyst job or just begging for something more challenging to gain experience and get to where I want to be. Raises were good but hours were long. They did screw me over once by not giving me a raise they promised me but I didn’t get it in writing and the person who screwed me ended up getting fired. As soon as I’m about to quit, I finally get different job as a department financial analyst in my fourth year. It was obviously a promotion and required certain computer skills. They gave me a “cost of living” raise of 3% instead (all my other raises were far above that),…

They gave me a “cost of living” raise of 3% instead (all my other raises were far above that), which meant I lost purchasing power compared to the prior year. I held my tongue and didn’t say anything because I wanted the experience and they kinda made me feel useless cuz they didn’t teach me how to do anything or about this part of the business (had to learn it by myself).

I’m at the start of my fifth year and was about to quit but wanted to see what my raise would be….. 3% again, when there was 9% inflation. I’m being paid like my lower position but in my fifth year which is killing me.

The day before I’m putting my two weeks in they “promote me” to the FP&A group without a raise (exciting opportunity but the pay is killing me especially since financial analysts in my are make 18k more than me.

Monday I’m telling them I want 18k more or my my last day is the 24th. I’ll then spend the next two months off with my wife who is now on summer break (as a teacher lol). 🙂

Fuck them if they don’t value me, but at least I’ll be free.
