I started working part-time at a city gym this past weekend. While I was in training, this woman comes up to the desk and she seems really stressed, she says that she thinks her grandma is working out and she needs to go to work but her grandma has her car keys. the manager let's her into the gym to find her grandma. we see her kinda wandering around and she eventually leaves, saying she can't find her grandma. just as she leaves, someone runs up to the desk saying her bag was stolen. immediately they both start accusing the woman looking for her grandma.
Now, there's a good chance it was her since she was the only one that didn't sign in that morning, but they both immediately start saying it was her because she was black and there were no other black people in the gym. The manager was literally like “not to be racist… but i knew i shouldn't have let her in because there are no other black people here. ” and i was just so shocked that that's the first thing someone's mind would go to.
This other lady i worked with is like “i know a crackhead when i see one…i probably shouldn't Say that, right?” and I'm like yeah no definitely not. but ofc she keeps going on and on about how this lady was a crackhead and how she could've stolen the bag because she was fat and could fit stuff in her clothes.
I was so apalled, what should my next steps be? Should I bring this up to someone?
