rant lmao

Currently unemployed because my last job was casual/on-call and you kinda just get dropped off the roster randomly with 0 communication. My mum started making me volunteer a day a week in the meantime which I didn't agree to at first but I'm still living under her roof (she makes about a quarter of the family income and my dad just goes with whatever shit she comes up with) so I don't really get a say.

One day a week unpaid isn't too bad.

Now I've started doing another day a week doing data entry in the library (cataloguing, boring shit nobody else wants to do) because there's potential for me to get paid if I can show I'm doing useful enough work.

Had a conversation tonight at the dinner table and my parents are mad that I'm “not grateful enough” for this “opportunity to learn new skills and put something on my resume”. They say that the school is doing me a favour by allowing me to do this unpaid work and gave me the usual “sense of entitlement” and “lack of work ethic” talk.

Tell me I'm not tripping…
