I guess I'm looking for moral support. Anyone been in a situation like this before, how did you handle it?
I recently resigned from my job partly due to some processes at work that I didnt agree with (i've been with the company for a few years and know them well enough to know these things won't change).
At this same time I've been dealing with some mental health issues (work caused) that where interfering with my job so I thought I would take a break for a couple months.
It was very sudden and I gave 2 weeks notice but was really unwell at the time and could not actually work my 2 weeks – they where not happy and I didn't even get a reply to my resignation email.
I work remotely so I never have to go into the office. Every time I do go into the office, I would get swarmed with questions/chitchat/tasks as they rarely see me. I don't have a good relationship with anyone there, it's all very impersonal acquaintance based. I have some work property that needs to be returned to the company – so I emailed the company asking when to drop it back with no reply. Emailed again, no reply, called, no answer.
Weeks go by, I then get a passive aggressive email out of the blue regarding returning the work property. I explain that I had already tried to contact them and it goes back and forth. I organised to drop it off next week.
Sounds silly, but I'm nervous about going into the office to drop off these items. Having to walk in to see these people after my resignation didn't go to plan is a bit daunting. The managers are annoyed with me as my leaving was out of the blue, they are super understaffed already.
I know I don't owe these people anything but I feel like they are going to try confront me about it.
Has anyone been in this situation before where they've had to go back after leaving and deal with toxic employers?
Usually I would be okay but with how my health has been the last couple months I'm worried about having some sort of breakdown. Its a long trip maybe 2 hours to get there. My husband will be at work and none of my friends are free to come, I'm considering bringing my dog so I can use him as an excuse as to why I can't stay and talk with the managers about the situation.
