Recruiter not willing to tell salary range upfront

Recently I had a recruiter from a big tech company message me on Linkedin 4 separate times about the same role. I ignored them but eventually decided to reply to learn more about it. I just started a new role 6 months ago so I'm not actively looking to leave. I figured since they messaged so many times I would see if they would just tell me the salary range upfront before moving on to speaking with them on the phone. If the salary was right I would possibly consider it. After I replied asking for the salary range the recruiter just ignored me and never replied… It just seems a bit ridiculous that salary is still taboo to bring up early in the interview process. Anyone have any similar situations like this? I personally think in this job market that salary needs to be told upfront and not something…

I've wasted my time with other recruiters in the past, waiting until the end of an hour call to find out my salary expectations were way off in what they thought the role paid.
