Sorry to rant.
I'm in the process of looking for a new position. I just wanted to stress how sick I am of these Indeed skills tests. I totally get them, and why they would have them, but it does make the applying process so long and frustrating. Especially when the tests sometimes don't have anything to do with the kind of work you will be doing. And don't get me started on the “automated phone interview.”
Another thing I can't stand? Self guided video interviews. Who thought of these, who thought they would be a good idea? How hard is it for you to call me on the phone and talk to me for ten minutes? Someone answering a question on video can be so different than in person, it cuts out the ability to have a conversation as the first impression – which in turn could determine if someone is hired or not. I don't want my awkwardness on camera to be the reason I don't get hired for a position I am qualified for.
I don't even care what is professional anymore. I have started saying/writing in cover letters that I want to make use of everyone's time and ask for salary up front. That should be reasonable enough, considering that I spent all the time filling out your application and doing your stupid Indeed skills test or your personality test.
Rant over. Keep it real.
