Red Flags in Job Descriptions I have noticed on Linkedin.

They do not list salary. (This is so they can rip you off.) Utilizes “Rockstar” in any context. (You will be overworked and underpaid if not working the job of more than one person) Mentions stupid “fun” benefits like foosball, snacks, and puppies (They don’t offer any substantial or competitive benefits) They mention they are temporarily remote but can’t wait to get back to the office(They had to open remote because their employees kept quitting. Also do they expect people to uproot and move once they decide that’s over? They want the control and shitty in office politics and want to keep you on your toes.) The qualifications are longer than the benefits. (I think this speaks for itself) They expect you to put together a presentation for your interview or want to to a group interview. They expect you to put together a presentation for your interview or want to to a group interview. (This is carrot dangling. They want free ideas/feedback and want you to be open to free labor. Also group interviews are just the demo mode of a competitive environment where the pit you against your coworkers)

They mention “great company culture” or “work family” (Avoid at all costs. This is blowing smoke, the culture sucks ass and there’s a ton of bullshit red tape and office politics)

They require a cover letter, lots of red tape or filling out info on their websites. (Unnecessary ass kissing will be required and they will likely underpay you.)

They use emoji’s liberally (Quite possibly a scam like a start up that can’t afford to pay you, and you will be at the very least severely overworked)

They mention “work hard, play hard” (the company is run by douchey frat guys and you will be constantly working.)

Mentions being fast-paced, or tight-deadlines (UBER TURNOVER!!! This job will be your personal hell, you will work weekends and most holidays)

They ask people not to reach out to them unless notified (High turnover. They are trying to seem exclusive but they hardly get any applicants)
